The Role
Hands-on installs of cameras, APs, racks, and in-wall cabling. You’ll pull and terminate Cat6/Cat6a, build tidy racks/patch panels, mount devices, label/test, and deliver craftsmanship-grade work on every job.
What You’ll Do
- Pull, dress, and terminate low-voltage cabling (Cat6/6a); keystones, patch panels, RJ45 ends (pass-through OK).
- Build wall-mount/network racks: layout, rails, cable management, power, labeling.
- Install and aim UniFi Protect cameras; mount APs and small switches; basic adoption handoff.
- Test & document: cert/test runs, label conventions, photos, as-built notes.
- Surface/attic/wall fishing, conduit where needed; seal & finish entry points.
- Coordinate with PM on site readiness, punch lists, and small change orders.
- Maintain clean work areas; follow safety practices (ladders, PPE, attic heat).
Must-Haves
- Based in Austin, TX with daily field availability (occasional Waco–San Antonio day trips).
- 2+ years in low-voltage/structured cabling or closely related field work.
- Pro with termination tools (110/66 punch, RJ45 crimpers), toners/probes, testers, fish tape/glow rods.
- Comfortable on ladders and in attics; lift 40–50 lbs; neat cable dressing and labeling.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, professional client communication.
Nice-to-Haves
- UniFi ecosystem experience (Protect, switches, gateways, controllers).
- Basic networking (VLANs, PoE budgets, DHCP/DNS troubleshooting).
- Access control (strikes, mags, readers) and conduit bending.
- Reading floor plans; basic hand-tool/driver set and SDS/hammer drill.
