The Role
You’ll own the health of our Managed Networks portfolio across Austin. Day-to-day you’ll monitor, troubleshoot, and improve client networks; complete on-site service calls; and handle planned maintenance windows (sometimes after hours).
What You’ll Do
- Proactively monitor client networks; respond to alerts, performance issues, and outages.
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi (coverage, interference, roaming), switching/routing, and ISP issues.
- Configure UniFi (UDM/UDM-Pro/UXG, U7/U6 APs, USW switches), VLANs, DHCP, firewall rules, VPNs, QoS.
- Implement secure segmentation for IoT, POS/guest, and internal networks; mDNS/Bonjour bridging as needed.
- Deploy/maintain cameras and access control (UniFi Protect and similar).
- Run site surveys and quick heat-map validations; produce tidy rack/patch work and documentation.
- Plan & execute maintenance windows and small upgrades with clear rollback plans.
- Create/update runbooks, diagrams, and client handoff notes; keep tickets current.
- Rotate through on-call (SLA-driven response).
Must-Haves
- Based in Austin, TX with daily field availability (occasional Waco–San Antonio day trips).
- 3+ years in MSP/NOC/network ops or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong with UniFi ecosystem, VLANs/subnets, NAT, ACLs, VPNs.
- Wi-Fi fundamentals: RF basics, channel planning, RSSI/SNR, band steering, roaming, 802.11k/v/r.
- Confident across L1–L3 (cabling, PoE, loops, DHCP/DNS, routes).
- Clean driving record; reliable vehicle; able to lift 40–50 lbs; ladder/attic safe; clear documentation.

- UniFi Protect (cameras/NVR) and access control deployments.
- Apple/SMB environments (AirPrint, mDNS, HomeKit/Homebridge), Sonos, smart-home integrations.
- Scripting/automation (bash/Python), RMM/PSA tools, basic Windows/macOS.
- CompTIA Network+/Security+, Ubiquiti UEWA/UBWA, or similar.
